Dutch Greenhouse Delta has used Sahara Expo 2026 and related meetings in Cairo to deepen connections between Dutch horticulture companies and Egyptian growers, institutions and policymakers.
According to DGD’s September 29 recap, the programme ran around Sahara Expo from September 21–24 and included the Farm2Fork Ecosystem Conference, a Dutch pavilion and a series of meetings with Egyptian stakeholders.
Integrated greenhouse systems rather than standalone products
The Dutch programme brought together greenhouse technology, climate control, precision irrigation, biological crop protection, growing media and education. DGD presented the technologies as parts of an integrated production system rather than as isolated supplier products.
The week also included a reception at the Dutch ambassador’s residence and additional networking intended to build longer-term cooperation between companies, knowledge organisations and government partners.
Why it matters
Egypt is a large horticultural market facing strong pressure around water availability, heat and food security. Those constraints align directly with areas where Dutch greenhouse suppliers compete internationally: controlled climate, efficient irrigation, crop protection and high-output production systems.
For suppliers, the important signal is that market development is moving beyond exhibition visibility toward structured ecosystem partnerships and project discussions.
What remains unclear
DGD’s recap does not identify new contracts or project awards resulting from the week. The next meaningful signals will be concrete greenhouse projects, supplier selections or investment commitments linked to the relationships built in Cairo.
Key takeaways
- Dutch Greenhouse Delta brought an integrated horticulture delegation to Sahara Expo 2026.
- The programme focused on climate-smart production, water efficiency and cross-sector partnerships.
