Yuxi’s Jinshan greenhouse park begins first-phase construction in Yunnan

Foundations are under way in Tonghai County for a village-backed park planning 39,000 sq m of film greenhouses. First planting is targeted after Lunar New Year 2027.

Construction has begun on the first phase of the Jinshan Green Organic Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park in Tonghai County, Yuxi, in China’s Yunnan province. A groundbreaking ceremony has taken place and foundation work is progressing, according to an original Yuxi Net report published by the Yuxi municipal government on 14 October.

The project is being developed by a village-owned company in Jinshan Community, Xiushan subdistrict. It is a protected-horticulture scheme rather than a completed or operating farm: construction is at the foundation stage, and the first planting is still scheduled for next year.

39,000 square metres of planned film greenhouses

The proposed facility includes 39,000 sq m (3.9 hectares) of connected plastic-film greenhouses, along with areas for seedling propagation, cultivation, storage and offices. The project’s overall site plan covers 103 mu, equivalent to about 6.9 hectares. The planned greenhouse area and the wider site area are different measures and should not be treated as interchangeable.

The local report describes a combination of nursery and larger-scale crop production under protected conditions, but it does not identify the crop species, greenhouse technology suppliers or an awarded construction contractor. There is no separately confirmed project investment amount in the source.

Completion and planting still ahead

The developers aim to finish phase one before the 2027 Spring Festival and begin planting afterward. Those dates are targets, not confirmed completion or production milestones. The Yuxi Net account says the fully developed park could generate around CNY 20 million in annual production value and create more than 80 jobs. These are projections for future activity, not the construction budget or current realised output.

For commercial greenhouse builders and horticulture suppliers, the immediate signal is a specific new facility moving from a project plan into physical works. The distinction matters because orders for structures, irrigation, nursery equipment and other systems depend on the project’s subsequent procurement and installation decisions; no supplier awards have been reported in the available project notice.

Key takeaways

  • Foundation work is under way for the village-backed Jinshan park in Tonghai County, Yunnan.
  • Plans specify 3.9 hectares of film greenhouses within a wider site of about 6.9 hectares.
  • Completion before Lunar New Year 2027, planting afterward and CNY 20 million in annual production value remain projected outcomes.
