Roots and ACRES have combined their greenhouse operations in the Netherlands’ Westland region and will continue under the ACRES name. The combination, announced by ACRES on 2 October 2026, brings the enlarged grower to 64 hectares of modern glasshouse area.
Roots contributes its 14.5-hectare site in Honselersdijk, where it grows mini vine cherry tomatoes. ACRES produces tomatoes and cucumbers across multiple Westland locations. The companies did not disclose financial terms or the detailed legal structure.

A larger operating platform
ACRES itself was formed in 2024 through the combination of Lanstomaten, Green2Grow, G.J. van der Wel and the joint growing businesses of Prominent. Roots and ACRES were already linked operationally: both belong to growers’ association Prominent, market their produce through Growers United, and Roots had been an ACRES co-shareholder since the company was established.
As part of the completed combination, Luc van der Knaap of Roots joins ACRES management. Richard van der Knaap will remain involved as an adviser during a transition period. Richard and Marcel van der Knaap and Jasper and Stefan Oussoren are handing the company to the enlarged organisation. These management changes and the 64-hectare footprint were also reported by HortiDaily.
For suppliers, customers and investors tracking Dutch greenhouse consolidation, the immediate signal is greater operating scale under one grower identity. The disclosed area provides a clear measure of the combined production platform, but the absence of financial terms limits assessment of the combination’s valuation and ownership structure.
