Emerald Coast Growers has entered into a partnership with U.S. investment firm Green Street Growth, bringing in outside capital while keeping the grower’s existing management structure in place.

The Babikow family retains partial ownership, and the companies say the partnership will provide resources for additional production capacity, operating infrastructure and workforce investment.

The September 30 announcement said Paul and Maureen Babikow, Cheri Markowitz and Al Mueller will remain in leadership roles. Customer and supplier relationships are expected to remain unchanged while the existing team and Green Street Growth develop expansion plans.

Capital enters without a full management change

The structure is different from a full sale or management replacement. Emerald Coast Growers remains family-led, while Green Street Growth becomes a new investment partner.

The grower operates sites in Pensacola and Milton, Florida, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Its own facilities page lists more than 570,000 square feet of greenhouse space and 75 acres of farmland.

Emerald Coast Growers President Paul Babikow said the partnership is intended to provide additional resources for production capacity, infrastructure, people and customer support.

Why it matters

The transaction is another example of outside capital moving into established horticulture businesses without immediately replacing the operating team.

For suppliers and competitors, the relevant signal is the stated intention to expand production capacity and infrastructure. The size, location and timing of those investments have not yet been announced.

What remains unclear

The companies have not disclosed the size of Green Street Growth’s investment, the ownership percentages after the transaction or the scope and timing of planned capacity additions.

Key takeaways

  • Emerald Coast Growers has brought in Green Street Growth while retaining current management and partial family ownership.
  • The partnership is intended to support additional production capacity and operating infrastructure.
  • Investment size, ownership percentages and the location of future expansion remain undisclosed.
