Saudi Arabia’s National Agricultural Development Company (NADEC) has reported tomato production of 3,000–3,200 tonnes at the Pure Harvest greenhouse it agreed to buy in August. CEO Suleiman Al-Tuwaijri gave the figure in a 4 October 2026 interview with CNBC Arabia, ahead of the site’s expected transfer in Haradh. The interview did not clearly specify the production period, so the quantity should not be treated as verified annual output.
The six-hectare greenhouse uses hydroponics and climate-control systems for year-round tomato cultivation. It has operated since 2022, according to the buyer’s official Saudi Exchange disclosure dated 25 August.
August agreement, conditional November handover
NADEC signed a binding asset purchase agreement on 24 August to acquire the facility and related infrastructure from Pure Harvest Smart Agricultural Farms for SAR 85 million. Signing is not completion: the companies still need to terminate existing offtake, lease, utility and services agreements and satisfy any necessary approvals.
NADEC plans to use internal resources and bank financing. The target handover date is around 1 November 2026, subject to outstanding conditions, while the buyer expects to begin operating the greenhouse in the first quarter of 2027.
Existing capacity, new operating benchmark
The October production figure gives greenhouse operators and investors additional detail on the existing asset behind the agreed purchase price. It is not evidence of a newly built greenhouse or an achieved expansion in tomato capacity. Nor can its productivity be compared with annual yields at other sites without establishing the tonnage reporting period.
NADEC expects financial effects from the transaction to emerge progressively from the second half of 2027. That outlook depends on completing the handover and integrating the facility into the company’s operations.
What remains open
The transaction has not been confirmed closed in the sources reviewed as of 12 October 2026. The relevant timeframe behind the 3,000–3,200-tonne figure also remains unconfirmed.
