Xixia County in Henan is preparing procurement for a large greenhouse-retrofit programme serving its edible-fungi industry, covering 611 mu — about 40.7 hectares or 100.6 acres — of greenhouse structures.

The programme includes 108 mu of solar greenhouses and 503 mu of multispan plastic greenhouse structures across 20 subprojects.

A procurement-intention notice published on September 30 lists a budget of RMB 59.2 million and an expected procurement window in October 2026.

The Henan government procurement notice says the work spans five townships, 16 villages, one community and 18 participating entities.

The retrofit covers more than 40 hectares

The current procurement intention includes reconstruction or upgrading of outer and inner structures, shade nets, plastic film, mushroom-growing racks, environmental-control equipment, electrical systems and internal ground works.

An earlier Xixia County government project notice described the same programme with a total investment of RMB 57.32 million, including a proposed RMB 17.18 million contribution from ultra-long special treasury bond funds and RMB 40.14 million of self-raised funding.

The September procurement intention lists a higher RMB 59.2 million budget, so the final procurement documents will be important for confirming the definitive contract value.

Why it matters

The programme is not a single new greenhouse project. It is a distributed retrofit across an existing production cluster, which makes it relevant to suppliers of greenhouse film, shade systems, environmental controls, electrical equipment and production infrastructure.

It also shows how public funding in China is being used to modernise existing protected-production assets rather than only add new greenhouse area.

What remains unclear

The September document is a procurement intention rather than an awarded contract. Final suppliers, tender lots, award values and construction schedules will only be known after the formal procurement process advances.
